Scotland is blessed with 282 mountains over 3000ft, or Munros, as they a known. Ever since Sir Hugh Munro first catalogued them and published the definitive list in 1891, they have become a target for the completist. Simply hike to a summit and you've 'bagged a Munro'.
This simplicity, however, belies the unpredictable and sometimes dangerous nature of the endeavour. It's not the Himalayas but for the unprepared there is a very real danger of trouble, quickly changing from warm summer day to shivering cold within 10 minutes.
