We're partnering Sussex adventure holiday company RPM90 and New Forest gravel supremos to bring you an early-season Sussex Overland trip.
The 3 Day South Coast Overland trip starts out at the foot of the South Downs in the historic town of Lewes. Meet us for coffee and bacon sarnies in a local Lewes cafe and then it won’t be too long before we use our local knowledge to take you on this challenging route of excellent gravel paths, singletrack, bridleways, coastal cycle paths and country lanes. We will head west past Brighton, our home, to our halfway overnight stay in a South Downs Bothy owned by the National Trust.
From there we will be up early for breakfast and head out on Stage 2. We will join The Monarch’s Way and head South West, towards the coast and into Portsmouth Harbour. With the help of two ferries and a traverse of the Isle of Wight we will arrive in the port of Lymington.
We will ride up through the New Forest to our second night stop, hot showers and dinner at a hotel in Brockenhurst. On day 3, we enjoy a full English breakfast, leave the bikepacking bags at our base and ride up through the forest to meet the guys from The Woods Cyclery. We will top up our tanks with their coffee and cinnamon buns before continuing on a loop with them on some of their superb local trails. In the afternoon, riders will collect their kit and depart towards Brockenhurst station or onwards with their own adventure.
Co-founder of The Overland Oli Pepper will be riding the 3 days so they'll be plenty of time to quiz him about The Overland ethos and range as well as heckle him if he fails to make it up any hills.
