A paradox of the outdoors industry is the need for gear, as doing the activities that inundate us with the addictive feeling of well being normally require specialist equipment. Each year new technology and further improvements to clothing vie for our attention promising even better times on the slopes. Another paradox is more often than not we need to travel to find these adventures and to visit the mountains. These very actions then jeopardise the future of the sports we love and this is most felt with skiing and snowboarding where we rely on the cold temperatures to provide the blanket we need to have those life affirming moments.
